Commspeed Selects Alvarion’s Complete Spectrum™ Solution To Quickly, Seamlessly Expand Its Broadband Business

Prescott Valley, Ariz. and Carlsbad, Calif. – August 19, 2003 – Alvarion, the leading provider of wireless broadband solutions worldwide, today announced that broadband wireless carrier CommSpeed selected its BreezeACCESS Complete Spectrum™ solution for use in unlicensed bands to deliver broadband services to business customers within existing coverage areas while extending the footprint of its wireless network to new areas.

Until now, the Arizona-based carrier has been delivering broadband services to more than 3,800 residential and small business customers using its MMDS licenses from another vendor. Yet it was challenged to provide high-bandwidth services to larger businesses -- in particular in non-line-of-sight prone dense, urban areas of its service region. In addition, CommSpeed wanted to expand into new markets without purchasing additional spectrum licenses, and therefore, deploying a license-free network became the logical solution.

Selecting Alvarion’s world leading BreezeACCESS platform, with its Complete Spectrum flexibility, allowed CommSpeed to proceed immediately with its plans to add more than 2500 new customers in the region.

As a result, we now expect that our revenue growth will exceed our previous projections, which did not account for the relative ease and speed of deploying the BreezeACCESS product in multiple frequencies.”

As the basis of Alvarion’s Complete SpectrumÔ Solution, BreezeACCESS allows operators to use a variety of unlicensed bands to meet their network needs. Supporting concurrent line-of-site (LOS) and NLOS multi-band implementations with subscriber speeds ranging from 3 to 24 Mbps, Alvarion’s platform is the only offering available that enables operators to customize their networks to support their unique demographic and topographic environments and business models in achieving total customer penetration.
