Marshall Islands National Telecommunications Authority Select Alvarion’s ULTRAWAVE Network For 3G Services

Compact GSM Solution to Provide Cost-Effective Voice and Data Services to Capital Island of Majuro and Four Remote Islands

TEL AVIV, Israel, June 14, 2005 — Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR), the world’s leading provider of wireless broadband solutions and specialized mobile networks, today announced the purchase of UltraWave equipment by the National Telecommunications Authority of the Marshall Islands. Alvarion will deploy the UltraWave cellular system, a compact GSM network, in the capital island of Majuro and four remote islands to enable the Authority to provide voice and data services to thousands of subscribers using 900 MHz.

“Alvarion’s UltraWave system is ideal for the varied terrain and occasional inclement weather conditions in the Marshall Islands,” commented Anthony Miller, General Manager of the National Telecommunications Authority. “It is a small, cost effective system that saves on satellite bandwidth transmission costs while providing a level of redundancy in case of natural disaster. Our subscribers will be thrilled when deployment is completed, since we could not provide services at an affordable level until now.”

The core of Alvarion’s GSM solution is the UltraWave, a fully integrated set of features that combines both radio and switching functionality into a single cabinet about the size of a standard PC tower. The provider benefits from quick deployment and seamless integration to existing wireless and wireline network infrastructures. Combined with its expandable architecture, UltraWave is sufficiently scalable and flexible to adapt to changing carrier needs, delivering unparalleled value with an accelerated return on investment.
“Both its multi-island geography and lack of telecommunications infrastructure make Alvarion’s systems ideal for solving the connection challenges faced in countries such as the Marshall Islands,” said Zvi Slonimsky, CEO of Alvarion. “Carriers benefit greatly from UltraWave’s rapid roll-out, rugged, robust equipment, and the ability to expand services to many subscribers quickly and cost-effectively.”
